You have the option of scanning source code locally, in standalone fashion, or of synchronizing scan results with a central server (either Coverity Connect or Coverity on Polaris). We recommend that you synchronize with a server.

When it has a server connection, Code Sight shares triage information and analysis summaries with a centralized database. This has a couple of advantages:

  • Triage settings are shared uniformly among the developers who connect to the server.
  • Code Sight obtains analysis summaries from the server. This reduces the need to run full scans locally, which reduces the amount of time spent running scans.

For more information, see Synchronizing Coverity Analysis with a server.
