The Coverity on Polaris Software Integrity Platform Jira service enables Coverity on
Polaris users to manually triage, select, and assign Coverity on Polaris issues to Jira
projects, which can be manually pushed to Jira on demand. OAuth is the authentication
method for the connection between Jira and Coverity on Polaris.
- The Coverity on Polaris Jira Service supports Jira Cloud instances, and Jira Server/Data Center instances that are routable from Coverity on Polaris over the Internet.
- Owners are not assigned in Jira when issues are created by a Coverity on Polaris export.
- The Jira issue is created with an issue type of Task.
- Updated issues and the resulting update or comments are sent to Jira.
Requirements
- Jira Cloud instance or Jira Server/Data Center instance running the latest Long Term Support release.
- Coverity on Polaris instance
- The Jira organizational admin role is required to set up the Jira instance.
- The organization admin role in Coverity on Polaris is required to configure integration with Jira.
- The user that exports issues from Coverity on Polaris must be a member of the Jira project with associated Jira permissions.
Setup Overview
OAuth is an authentication protocol that allows Jira to enable Coverity on Polaris Software Integrity Platform with the required credentials to export issues to Jira.
The following is a high-level overview of the setup
and configuration.
Additional Information- Ensure you have the required Jira and Coverity on Polaris instances.
- Generate an RSA public/private key pair using OpenSSL.
- Create an Application link for Coverity on Polaris in Jira. The client application Coverity on Polaris is registered as a consumer, by creating an application link (that uses OAuth) in Jira that links to the client.
- Create the integration in the Coverity on Polaris user interface. Go to your Coverity on Polaris server, click My Organization > Integrations. Follow the instructions in the topic Integrate Coverity on Polaris with Jira for your Organization.
- Configure Jira exports in Coverity on Polaris. Follow the instructions in the topic Configuring Jira Exports for a Project.
- Export issues from Coverity on Polaris to Jira. Follow the instructions in the topic Export an Issue to Jira.
