After Coverity on Polaris locates issues in your project, the next
step is to figure out what to do with them. You can assign issues to
specific people, or you can close them as necessary. This process is known
as triage.
Coverity on Polaris allows you to triage issues in a variety
of places, including the issue list and individual issues.
-
Navigate to the specific issue you want to triage. For example, from
the issue list, click on the title of one issue to see its details.
-
In the upper right corner, click Edit on the
right side of the Triage title.
-
If you wish to assign the issue, start to type the assignee's name in the Owner
text-entry box, and then choose that person from the dropdown menu. Alternately, click
Assign to me to take ownership of the issue yourself. You can use
this same dropdown to change the ownership of an assigned issue.
-
If you would like to close this issue, indicating that it does not
need attention, choose a reason for dismissal from the drop-down.
The options are:
- Not Dismissed
- To Be Fixed
- Dismissed
Likewise, if the issue was previously triaged, you can change the decision about
whether to dismiss or you can change the reason for dismissing.
-
If you select "Dismissed", you will be asked "Why should this issue be dismissed?"
The options are:
- False Positive
- Intentional
- Other
-
Whether you're assigning an issue or changing its dismissal status, you can add
comments using the Commentary text box. The comment is mandatory
when your reason for dismissing an issue is "Other."
-
When you're finished making changes, click Save to make them
permanent.
When you triage an issue, the decision is applied across all branches in the project. Your team will not need to triage the same issue a second time.
Note: Approval might be needed. If an organization administrator requires it, dismissals have to
be approved by a project admin. When that workflow is enabled, the triaging otherwise works
the same but the history will show "dismissal requested" and the status will not change to
"dismissed" until the dismissal is approved by an admin.
