Triage Issues in a Batch

Coverity on Polaris

After Coverity on Polaris locates issues in your project, the next step is to figure out what to do with them. You can triage your issues in batches.

Coverity on Polaris allows you to triage issues as a batch by selecting them one-by-one and then assign them an owner or dismiss them. Dismissal closes the issues, indicating that they do not need attention.

  1. Navigate to the issue list, and choose the issues you want to triage by selecting the checkbox next to each.

From the issues list, select the issues you want to triage.
  2. Click Triage Selected.
  3. To assign (or re-assign) the issues to an owner, start to type the assignee's name in the Owner text-entry box, and then choose that person from the drop-down. Alternately, click Assign to me to take ownership of the issues yourself.
  4. To dismiss the issues, choose a reason for dismissal from the drop-down.
    The options are:
    • False positive
    • Intentional
    • Other (requires a comment)

Use the drop-down to choose a reason for dismissing an issue.
Likewise, if the issues were previously triaged, you can change the decision about whether to dismiss them, or you can change the reason.
  5. Whether you're assigning an issue or changing its triage status, you can add comments using the Commentary text box. The comment is mandatory when your reason for dismissing an issue is "Other."
  6. When you have finished making changes, click Save to make them permanent.
Note: Approval might be needed. If an organization administrator requires it, dismissals have to be approved by a project admin. When that workflow is enabled, the triaging otherwise works the same but the history will show "dismissal requested" and the status will not change to "dismissed" until the dismissal is approved by an admin.
