Tag the pulled container images to provide version or other metadata information:

  1. List the pulled images that are in the host node and locate the image to tag. For example, we will tag the images identified in bold:

    % docker images
    REPOSITORY TAG IMAGE ID CREATED SIZE
    registry                                                            8db46f9d7550   8 days ago   24.2MB

  2. Map an image to your registry and tag the image with version or other information using the syntax:

    docker tag {REGISTRY_FROM}/{image_name}:{version_tag} {REGISTRY_TO}/{image_name}:{version_tag}

    For example, to map the repo.blackduck.com/containers/cim-downloads:2026.9.0 image to a localhost registry and tag it with the image version:

    % docker tag repo.blackduck.com/containers/cim-downloads:2026.9.0 localhost:5000/cim-downloads:2026.9.0

    Another example, to map the repo.blackduck.com/containers/job-runner:2026.9.0 image to a localhost registry and tag it with the image version:

    % docker tag repo.blackduck.com/containers/job-runner:2026.9.0
       localhost:5000/job-runner:2026.9.0
  3. List the images and find the newly-tagged images. For example, in bold:

    % docker images
    REPOSITORY TAG IMAGE ID CREATED SIZE
