Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) and Open ID Connect (OIDC) are Single Sign-On (SSO) standards for messages between service providers (like Black Duck Portal) and IdPs (like Okta) to support user authentication. After you enable single sign-on in Black Duck Portal:
- You can manage access to Black Duck Portal (and the other Black Duck applications and resources linked to Black Duck Portal) using your IdP.
- Your users don't have to maintain a separate password for Black Duck Portal (and the other Black Duck applications and resources they can access from Black Duck Portal). Instead, users sign in using credentials managed by your IdP.
After connecting to your IdP with SAML 2.0 or OIDC, you can optionally Enable SCIM provisioning (optional). If you chose to connect your IdP with SAML 2.0, you can also optionally Enable IdP-initiated SSO (optional).
